Blooming Bunting

Blooming Bunting

An experimental venture, Co. Dublin

Blooming Bunting is inspired by a belief that everything we do has an impact on our environment. Trusting in community spirit, Blooming Bunting is an experimental venture, conceived by visual artist Ashleigh Downey. Instigated by a desire to work on projects that were both meaningful and inclusive, Ashleigh developed an initiative that brings about environmental awareness, inspires creativity, and encourages social interaction. Through this project Ashleigh looks to present an inclusive project that will make a creative contribution to the community; an initiative that allows for spontaneity, encourages green thinking, and hopefully make the world that little bit brighter in the process.

The intention for Blooming Bunting is to unite a worldwide community by providing a platform and presenting projects that everyone can take-part in. Blooming Bunting believes in building connections between humans and our natural world. It celebrates biodiversity, sustainability, creativity and community spirit.

Blooming Bunting planted its’ first seed in May 2015 with The Hanging Gardens of Dublin; launched as part of BloomFringe 2015.

Setting out believing in the kindness of people, Blooming Bunting launched The Hanging Gardens of Dublin as an experimental venture. Presented as a creative, green, community inclusive project, Blooming Bunting called for ‘nature inspired’ bunting to help enliven and transform a dreary lane beside Dublin Castle. With the help of community spirit, and an incredible positive response, we transformed this lane into a bunting filled, nature inspired, colourful hanging garden. With generous support and beautiful bunting this experimental venture has sewn a seed. . .
